myhotel@sentral

myhotel is another new mid range hotel in the thriving Brickfields area. If my memory serve me correctly, this hotel was established early this year or last year.

The location of this hotel is ideal, with just 5 minute walk from KL Sentral. It is located along Jalan Tun Sambathan 4, just directly opposite the YMCA. With its location so near to the city's public transport, it is definitely a good base to explore KL and its surrounding area.

Check in was swift as I made my booking and payment online via the hotel's site. The hotel has a promotional rate of RM98 on week day and RM108 on weekends (excluding tax).

The lobby is moderately spacious and different types of newspaper are available here everyday for the occupants here.

There is only one elevator serving 5 floors in this hotel and luckily I didn't encounter much traffic on my way up during my stay here.

The room door can be opened with an electronic card and one just need to scan it at the door reader. I like this feature as it is hassle free and hardly any issue while unlocking my room door.

I am kind of impressed with the room condition and space when I walked into it. I would say the room here is comparable to the nearby 3 stars hotel (Hotel Sentral). It is clean and moderately spacious. For the record, I sleep well during my stay here.

The only issue might be the noisy environment due to its location at the bustling area. Sometime noisy nearby occupant can also be irritating too.

Drinking waters are replenished every day. The same goes for the coffee sachets.

The toilet and bathroom are equally spacious. However, hot water is not available for the hand sink.

University Tenaga Nasional

University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) is a local private university I manage to visit and explore recently. It is located at Ikram Road, Bangi. The university vision is to generate professionals.

Within the university compound is a large lake with Residence Hotel and the university mosque located just beside it.

A floating restaurant also located at the lake.

Food court is available within the university area. I reckon this is the place the student dine as cooking is not allowed in the students' apartment.

Some basic grocery shops, post office, clinic and bank situated adjacent to the food court.

TNB Resarch Centre. It looks like a warehouse from the outside but it surely is a huge facility.

The staffs' quarters which look way better compare to the students' quarters.

The university campus seems to be divided to west and east campus. It is decently huge and university buses goes around the campus to ferry students to their intended destination. It took me more than 1 hour to explore the whole campus on foot.

College of Information Technology

The university has its own equestrian club and I spotted a few monkeys on the way too.

Track and field stadium

Engineering department building and labs. The university offers civil, mechanical and electrical engineering courses.

The university administrative building.

A cascading waterfall structure behind the administrative building.

This eye catching structure is the home to the university library, auditorium and examination hall.

It has the largest exam hall I ever come across. It even extended to this sky bridge.

Students' Apartment @ UNITEN

Recently I manage to stay in a students' apartment in one of the local university, UNITEN. This is my first time staying overnight at a local university.

I was placed in Ilmu apartment. It has the nearest walking distance (15 minutes) to the library building of this university. During the semester break, the university will rent out the apartments to government agencies and private sectors who plan to have functions and using the university's facilities.

The rent is about RM50 per head and each apartment can accommodate up to 5 person.

I was initially impressed when I stepped into the apartment. It is pretty spacious with a living room and study tables for the students who occupied this apartment. However, the apartment suffer from poor ventilation even with all windows wide open and fans on to full blast. It is just bloody hot inside here.

I wonder how on earth the students able to study inside here with such an uncomfortable environment. It was so hot that I slept in the living room during my 4 days stay here.

Each apartment has 4 rooms and there are just enough space for the occupant to keep their belongings. It feels like inside an oven when staying in each of these rooms.

At the rear of the apartment is a designated area for the occupants to dry their clothes.

I will probably won't not want to stay here again in the future. I would rather stay at the nearby Residence Hotel which also happen to be within the compound of this university.

Vietnam Kitchen @ 1 Utama

While shopping in 1 Utama, we came across a Vietnamese restaurant called Vietnam Kitchen and we agreed to give it a try as it has been some time we feast on Vietnam cuisine.

The ambience of the restaurant is quite remarkable and decorated with lotus flower drawing.

Everyone will be served with steamed peanut while waiting for their food. This peanut is not free and we were charged RM2.

I believe we ordered a mango lasse with sea coconut (Rm6.90) that day. The drink is extremely delicious and refreshing. It is made out of real and fresh mango. It is rich and undiluted.

Vietnam Coffee (RM6.90) is probably the best drink to have here. It is served with the coffee been filtered straight to the cup below. Sweet condensed milk is to be added to create the best coffee I ever tasted in my life.

Pork Chop set (16.90) is served with rice, egg, spring rolls, soup, pickled vegetable and the pork cooked with lemon grass flavour. Another delicious food worth trying.

Beef Noodle set (RM16.90) comes with spring rolls, bean sprout and pickled vegetables. The bean sprouts is to be added to the beef noodle broth for added aroma and taste. The broth is rich and very nice.

I am starting to love Vietnamese food now and I hope to sample more of their cuisine in the near future
