Dinosaur in Borneo

There has been a Dinosaur in Borneo exhibition at Jalan Lau King Howe, Sibu for quite some time now until 29th May 2022. Entry price is RM 10 for adult and RM 5 for children.

There are about 10 types of dinosaur on display here. It is open around afternoon until night. I believe night is the best time to come as the light effect just enhanced the surrounding atmosphere.

The dinosaurs here are mainly made of rubber with some parts such as jaw, tail and arm been motorized to create some movement effect.

Towards the end of the exhibition is the panda world section where cute panda statues can be seen scattered around the greens.

7th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2015

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta enters its 7th edition this year and as usual I made it to the site today for the record five years in a row.

 

 

 

 

As early as 7am, all the balloons are been inflated for take off.

 

 

 

 

 

I always enjoy the sight when all the balloons were released. Some of the balloonists skillfully piloted their balloons just above the lake.

 

 

The highlight this year is the Vincent Van Gogh balloon which pay homage to the famous Dutch artist. Unfortunately, this balloon was not able to take off this morning.

 

Other quirky design balloon this year features a penguin shaped balloon wearing Hawaiian clothes.

Humpy Dumpty balloon also made its first appearance here.

 

The Michelin balloon which never fail to make its appearance here. This balloon is usually dedicated for the tethered ride.

 

A giant white blimp which I believe belongs to the Perbadanan Putrajaya also made its maiden appearance here.

Borneo Cultural Festival 2014

Borneo Cultural Festival is probably the biggest event for Sibu and this year, the folks throng in droves to the venue at Sibu Town Square.

This year, the event is held from 15 - 24th August, somewhat a deviation from the usual June or July. The event was threatened as it rained heavily on the first day but Lady Luck was smiling on Saturday for a perfect evening weekend for the families.

 

 

 

The event don't differ much from the previous year with an allocated corner for each ethic groups in Sarawak to showcase their culture and food.

I even spotted an Optimus Prime made primarily from tin cans and other recycled items.

Borneo Cultural Festival really means a lot to the locals here judging by the crowds here and it is without a shadow of a doubt that it shall made its return every single year.

75 Years of Batman @ Pavilion KL

Batman character made its first appearance in the comic book on May 1939 and this iconic character has been around for 75 years this year.

There is a exhibition at Pavilion KL somewhere in the middle of this month which commemorate the milestone which Batman has achieve all through the years.

At the main entrance, a Batman figure and the "Batpod" were on display. The Batpod is integrated to the Tumbler and served as an escape pod. It is armed with dual front mounted cannons, machine guns and grappling hooks.

The exhibition was held mainly at the main concourse of Pavilion KL with Visa as the main sponsor of the event.

 

The chronology of the character since its first inception until present day can be found on both side of the wall leading to the main concourse.

Batmobile Tumbler is the latest incarnation of Batmobile and it has some cool features. However, The Bat is clearly missing from the exhibition.

I remember I used to watch the Batman TV series when I was a kid. The TV series was started in 1966 with Adam West donning The Dark Knight suit. I reckon it is this TV series which got me interested in Batman when I was a child.

Since the 1980s until now, 4 actors had been chosen for the role of the Caped Crusader; Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale. I believe Michael Keaton and Christian Bale portray the dark and grim character the best.

The cowl wore by George Clooney in the Batman and Robin movie.

 

 

 

Figures and vehicles from the The Dark Knight Trilogy which are pretty movie accurate.

 

The batmobile as appear in Batman and Batman Returns movie. This is as original as it can get when it comes to batmobile.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other action figures on display consisting of Batman himself, Batman's allies and his most feared villains.

 

Ben Affleck will be the Batman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie. I suspect the batsuit design for the upcoming movie will be back to the original comic book design as to the dark armor we are used to see.
