My Eyes Got Infected

My eyes suffered from virus infection last Sunday. Actually, my wife got the infection about 1 week ago and no matter what precaution I took, I still got infected.

This is the second time I got such infection to my eyes. The first time is about 2-3 years ago. The early symptom of the virus attack is an acute pain to the eye followed my irritating eye as if some dust had gone into it. The eyes will then turn red and the eye socket will appear swollen.

During the infection process, the eyes will secrete fluid which should be handle with care as it is contagious.

Normal eye drop will not help. The best thing to do is too see an eye specialist. There is only one in Sibu, Kang's Eye Specialist. The medical fee is not cheap, RM65 but the eye drops administered by the doctor are very effective and will show sign of improvement within 2 days. Both of the eye drop must be applied every 4 hours.

I tried to look at the labels and found out both of the eye drops appear to be manufactured by Allergan from Switzerland. I believe they are some sort of antibiotic or some sort.

Yu's Dolphins' Mascot

Another mascot for Sibu town was unveiled last week. Even though the official mascot for this town is a swan, somehow a model of dolphins was launched last week at Chambers Road

A friendly creature such as the dolphin was the best representing the friendly town of Sibu. Swan on the other hand representing gracefulness.

Yu's Dolphins Mascot is a joint project between Sibu Municipal Council and Ho Kang Yu Clan Association with the aim to beautify Sibu town and develop tourism.

The dolphin has a universal appeal, symbolizing freedom, joy, grace and serenity as well as uplift the spirits of many people.

The dolphins were surrounded by Zen balls water fountain and a small water fall in front of it. These combination should create a spectacular view at night.

One of the dolphins is balancing a ball with a Chinese character on it.

The Dolphins' Mascot was erected with Feng Shui in mind. I had a compass handy when I was here and found out one of the dolphins faces South while the remaining two are facing South East. The South East signify harmony and prosperity. The underlying meaning its that it wishes to bring about happiness and good luck to all the people of Sibu

Stretching your Dollars and Sense

Last year I wrote about 50 ways to cope with the higher living cost in this very blog. Living cost has definitely rise exponentially since the last decade or so. Hence, most of us need useful guidance on how to be prudent in our spending.

Last month, I came across a book by Lydia Teh with the title "Stretching your Dollar$ and $ense". It has more than 300 tips on money saving. The book is fun to read as the author add little touch of humour to make the reading more interesting.

Some of the tips she preached in her book had been highlighted in my post last year. However, some of my very own tips were not highlighted there and for the curious readers, you might want to check my previous post.

The book cost RM19.90 and some discount for those holding book store's membership card. Almost all the tips are practical enough to be followed and some of us might be dubbed as a skinflint should one follows her tips to the words.

I have to say I had seen Lydia Teh's other publications in the book store for some time now and this is the first time I read one of her books. She has given me a good impression and I am looking forward to read her other books.

Transformers Energon: Megatron

Megatron was resurrected again in the Energon series after sacrificing himself at the final episode in the Armada series.

Megatron's packaging by Hasbro. The manufacturer classified the transformation level as 4 (which means the most difficult level) but the transformation is rather straight forward for me.

The packaging comes with Megatron unit, a tank, a sword and a missile projectile.

Megatron alternate mode in the Energon series is a gunship. The appearance alone is capable of striking fear into his opponents.

Mini-con ports are still visible in this toy line and Megatron is capable of accommodating 6 Mini-cons

In hyper power mode, where both end of the wings are raised, extra guns are visible from under the wings at both front and rear for added fire power. The tank can also be attached to the gunship. This is quite an impressive sight as a heavily armed gunship.

Megatron in the Energon series has the most elaborated weapon system I ever come across. This armor will ensure the Decepticons leader will never be unarmed.

Megatron's face has strong resemblance with the G1 Galvatron. This is an obvious homage to the G1 Galvatron

The tank, which is Megatron's primary weapon can be attached to his arm as a fusi0n cannon, sword and even as a shield. Now, this is one awesome looking Decepticons leader. The attachment of the tank to his arm is quite similar to the G1 fusion cannon.

The tank itself is a shadow of his former self in the Armada series. This primary weapon was upgraded from Megatron's sword using Unicron's technology after the Autobot manage to replicate Megatron's sword with the help of the Omnicons. The tank also has a target scope for Megatron to have a better aim at his enemies.

The good thing about the Energon series toy line is that there will be always a storage place for the weapon. Here, the sword can be store behind inside the nosecone.

In robot mode, Megatron can also deploy the hyper power mode which reveals more guns in way of his wings.

Megatron with his Decepticons army in the Energon series which includes the treacherous Shockblast.

Megatron with his most loyal Decepticons soldiers, from Left to Right: Tidal Wave, Demolisher, Snowcat and Starscream.

Somehow they still remain loyal to Megatron no matter how harsh their leader treats them.

A comparison of Megatron in the Energon and Armada series. There is a slight difference in size noted here.

Megatron and Optimus Prime in vehicle mode in the Energon series. Megatron definitely looks meaner than the Autobot leader.

Megatron bio card by the manufacturer. A perfect 10! This is how Megatron should looks like, which is well armed with primary, secondary and even tertiary weapons

Klang Bak Kut Teh @ Sibu

Klang is famous for its bak kut teh and somehow the name has been borrowed by someone here to set out an outlet called "Klang Bak Kut Teh". This is only my second visit here.

The shop is located at Jalan Kampung Datu. If i remember correctly, it was established in 2007. Back then this place is always fully packed.

The restaurant has diversify its menu since then with introduction of more Chinese dishes and local delicacies.

I kind of like its marble table though. Nothing fancy here. It's an open air restaurant.

Here is the main dish. The bak kut teh. It is not the best bak kut teh in town though. The broth is average. I tried bak kut teh in Port Klang and the one served here is nowhere near that standard.

I read from some blogs that dried bak kut teh is now available in Klang. Apparently, they serve the same thing here too. This dish is spicy as it was cooked with dry chillies and herbs. For first timer to this dish, it tastes good but not great.

Total damage is RM17.60 (including pork's liver, yew char kuey and sugar cane drink)
