Budget Hotels at Teluk Chempedak

Teluk Chempedak is not short of budget hotels and accommodation. Initially, I thought Hyatt Resort is the only available hotel here from my research in the internet. So, I decide to share these information to those who wishes to spent a night here.

Hotel T.C. is located at the only shop house here, just next to the mini market. Contact number 09-5673788.

Pine Beach Hotel also located at the same row of shop house. Contact number 013-9404458

Located at the edge of the shop house is the Hotel Hillview. The very same owner operates a seafood restaurant at the ground floor.

I manage to venture further and found a new stretch of new accommodation behind the shop houses. Basically the semi-detached houses on this stretch of road had been converted to hotels.

There are basically 2 operators along this stretch, TC Beach Hotel and Anjung Selesa Guest House

I did not have the contact number for TC Beach Hotel. The room rate here is below RM100 per night

Anjung Selesa Guest House offers single, double, family and dormitory room with rate from RM50 onward. For reservation, please call 013-9404458

Uruguay Should Be the 2010 World Cup Champion

After following the World Cup matches so far, the tournament has entered the semi final stage with only 4 teams left. My verdict for the winner in the 2010 edition would be Uruguay due to a few factors and historical facts:

1. Spain: No team ever won the World Cup by losing their first match. Hence, by losing their opening match against Switzerland, Spain might not win this edition.
2. Netherlands: I believe previous winners will still win the tournament again. Spain and Netherlands have never lifted the trophy despite few near misses in the past.
3. Germany: No European countries ever won the prestigious cup away from the European soil. Hence, Germany, Netherlands and Spain are not likely to re-write the history.
4. Uruguay: 2 historical facts are on their side. They are previous winner of the cup and the only non-European team left in the tournament.
5. Defence: In the past, teams with good defending will eventually be the winner (although the Swiss bowed out in the past even without conceding a goal). All 4 teams have that quality and it will be interesting how they fare in the remaining matches.
6. Constintency: It only takes 7 matches to win the tournament. So far only Uruguay and Netherlands are unbeaten

Should any European win this edition, the history of the World Cup will surely be re-written. With this facts in mind, my pick in this edition will be URUGUAY.

Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort

The best place to stay while in Teluk Chempedak will be the 5 star hotel of Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort.

The hotel is designed mainly in the style of Malaysian Village and strategically located by the beach.

The check in counter and its lobby are rather spacious and adopt an open air concept where it let the sea breeze to cool the area.

The employees here are courteous and I really enjoy my stay here due to their hospitality.

The corridor leading to the guest rooms. The resort consists of 5 storey and translate to about 330 rooms and suites.

All the guest rooms are secured with what I presume to be a magnetic lock which can be unlocked by just scanning the access card.

I was amazed when I first saw my room. It is spacious and comfortable to my liking. The room rate here is kind of expensive. I use my government rate and the room cost me RM 341.55 per night. The normal rate would have been RM 400++.

The other thing I like the room here is the air conditioning system. It is able to regulate the temperature to an ideal level of comfort. Hence, I was able to sleep comfortable here.

All rooms has the option of garden or sea views and it is obvious the latter will cost more. I opt of the garden view and it is not much of a view from the balcony. All rooms here will have a balcony or patio for the guests to relax.

I assume those with the sea views will have something like this from their balcony.

Welcoming fruits are served on the working table.

The mini bar with wide range of soft drinks, juices, beers, beverage and snacks.

The toilet and bathroom are equally spacious and equipped with comprehensive amenities

Ironing board, safety deposit locker, extra pillow, bath robe and tea & coffee making facility are readily available in each room.

Other facilities available here are pools, Bayou Spa and tennis court

Teluk Chempedak

Teluk Chempedak (Jack fruit Bay) is Kuantan's main sightseeing attraction. This scenic beach is located about 5km from Kuantan.

I was rather surprised initially when I first arrived here as I would never expect to see shop house and other facilities which are available here.

There is basically one row of shop house here and this is where the Hoi Yin Restaurant is located which served Curry Laksa from morning until early afternoon.

The fast food chain operator such as KFC and McDonalds are strategically positioned beside the beach. Both of this fast food restaurants operate 24 hours a day.

A lot of souvenir shops can be found around this area. Kite selling business is also enjoying a brisk business as the kids like to play kites at the beach.

Open air food court is aplenty here and one can choose to dine here in open space while enjoying the beach scenery and sea breeze.

Kuantan Waterfront

Another prominent landmark in Kuantan is its promenade river front which faces the Kuantan River.

The waterfront is ideal for a relaxing stroll during the evening and watch the sun set on the horizon.

The locals here seems to congregate here almost every evening and do some fishing by the river bank. Most of them are using big rods so I reckon the fishes here are big.

The word "Kuantan" on the opposite of the river bank.

For those who enjoy the river bank view, the best place to stay is the Mega View Hotel which is just at the river bank.

There is also a food court at the waterfront which could offer a pleasant dining experience by the Kuantan River.
