Raya Decoration 2012 @ KLCC

Yet another kampung theme is spotted in KLCC as their Raya decoration this year. They had something very similar last year if my memory serves me correctly.

I reckon the verandah of the kampung will become a  stage for performers at a specified time.

The giant candles hanging from the ceiling are the only thing that caught my attention here this year.

Raya Decoration 2012 @ The Gardens Mall

The Raya Decoration at The Gardens Mall this year kind of digress from the theme most shopping malls adopted in the Klang Valley. Whereas most shopping malls around here are using kampung and bazaar theme, The Gardens Mall is using songket as their main theme.

The origins of the songket is rather sketchy but it is most likely that songket weaving was brought to Peninsular Malaysia through intermarriages between royal families. This was a common occurence in the 15th century for sealing strategic alliances.

For a long period of time, the traditional weavers lived in a world very close to nature. In the rural villages they see things with discerning eyes, capture the intricate design of nature and incorporate them as motifs and paterns in their creative works. As a result, most of the motifs in songket are designed and named after the flora and fauna of their environment or the animal kingdom.

I truly believe this is one of the best deco around this year. It offers contemporary ambient with remix of old and new concept at the best.

Raya Decoration 2012 @ Midvalley Megamall

Midvalley Megamall's centre court had been converted to a busy bazaar in conjunction with the upcoming Raya celebration.

The bazaars' construction are pretty down to earth with poles forming the supporting structures. Some zinc sheets and clothes form the roofs of the bazaars.

All sorts of items are sold here and for a short while, I thought I was somewhere in the middle of a Middle East bazaar.

Some side activities to promote artwork are also on display inside the bazaar.

Triple One Bistro

Triple One Bistro is one of new food outlets recently opened in Sibu. It is located opposite the Delta Mall, next to the Singapore Chicken Rice shop.

The main dining area is surprising located at the 1st floor. There is not much to mention about its interior decoration. In fact, the wall has an unpleasant look which is quite obvious although covered up with white paint.

The outlet offers a decent choice of flavored tea. I opted for passion fruit tea (RM 10). It comes in a jug tower and should be sufficient for 3-4 person.

Grilled Cheese Baked Chicken Breast (RM 15.90) served with mashed potato, carrot and cauliflower. It has an eye catching presentation and comes with its unique orange sauce.

This is an enjoyable meal. The meat is topped with a layer of cheese and it goes really well with my taste buds. Best eaten with a little bit of its signature orange sauce.

Grilled Fish Filler (RM 18.90) share the similar side dishes as with the grilled chicken breast. I really like the way they prepare the mashed potato.

The grilled fish fillet is equally impressive.  The fillet is grilled to perfection and blend really well with the sauce.

I notice the portion is not huge but it is the quality that counts. It makes me crave for more in the future. The outlet also offers affordable set lunch which worth trying. The owner is very humble and courteous. Definitely a good dining place if patrons do not mind its average ambience.

Farewell to My Workstation

Today is the last day I will be working from my current workstation as I will be transfer to another division tomorrow. In fact, I been changing 3 workstations for the last 2 and the half years before landing to the current one which I had occupied roughly for about 7 months.

When I moved into this workstation early this year, everything is brand new. Its strategic location offers better privacy compare to other workstations. I spent more time here than at home, coming back here occasionally on weekend to work. Hence, It is practically my second home.

I am saddened that I have to part with this workstation as I had put a lot of effort to make it a better place to work. I always believe in a conducive workstation where works can be carried out in a more efficient and organized manner.

I always make ensure this part of the table is always clear so my visitors can have a comfortable discussion with me. Sometime I had my lunch at this table too.

I arrange my computer at this tight spot in order to create more room to the other parts of my workstation so that essential documents are within easy reach of my arm.

This is the part where I do my other stuffs when not staring at the computer screen. The only thing I dislike here is the noisy printer's cooling fan which is situated just beside the table.

This cupboard is where I kept my personal belongings while the steel cabinets are for confidential documents.

Well, I will surely miss this spot. I have seen my future workstation and it is a mess and I start to wonder how I can settle down properly starting from tomorrow.

Raya Decoration 2012 @ Alamanda

It's fasting month again and majority of the shopping malls are gearing up for the festive mood.

Alamanda already got their Raya decoration up before the fasting month began. This year their theme didn't differ much from last year, with the kampung setting as their main decoration.

The wooden kampung structure stood at the centre concourse but no one is allowed to go in. The decoration is merely for display only.

I believe most of the residents in Putrajaya will start to miss their home now by just looking at the replicas of lemang and bicycle which should remind them of their hometown.

Kota Kinabalu Swordfish Statue

There is a swordfish statue which form a small roundabout at Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, just next to Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. It has since been an iconic landmark of sort for Kota Kinabalu.

This statue was built to commemorate Kota Kinabalu which was given a city status on 2nd February 2000.

Adjacent to the swordfish statue is an esplanade that incorporates dolphin and fish statues. This is one of the best place for photo shooting in the city while enjoying the sea breeze.
