Getting to Sentosa Island

Sentosa has become a major resort and recreational area over the last decade after its previous life as a military base. When the British withdrew their military presence in Singapore in 1968, the government decided to transform the former garison island into a leisure resort for both tourists and locals.

The easiest way to get there is first to take the MRT to HarbourFront MRT Station, which is at Vivo City. Vivo City is a nice place for shopping but we didn't have time to shop around as we were on our way to Sentosa Island.

From Vivo City, the island can be reached by cable car, bus or monorail (Sentosa Express). The more scenic option is by cable car. To get to the cable car station, navigate through Vivo City and follow the signboard where you will exit Vivo City and head towards Harbour Front Tower 2.

The cable car ticket can be purchased at the entrance (ground floor) at Front Tower 2. There are a few packages one can choose from which will include entrace fee for certain attraction at the Island. We chose Tour 1 which cost SGD69.80 (the package include jewel box, cable car ride, island admission, CineBlast, Sky Tower, Underwater World and tickets for Chinatown Heritage Centre)

So, this is how all the tickets looks like for this package. Make sure you keep this ticket properly at all time for admission to other attractions which are included in the packages while at the island. The ticket also allowed one to return by either cable car, bus or monorail.

We were also given a sticker so the tour leader at the island can easily identified us and take us for a brief tour around the island.
