Sarikei Lake Garden is located a kilometer away from the heart of Sarikei town. It is easily spotted via Jalan Repok when driving into the town.
The garden open for the public from 5.30am until 11pm
There are amazing fish pond and the scenic view of landscape surrounding the garden makes it the choice for those seeking tranquility and calmness
There are a few food and drink stalls beside the lake
The Lake Garden built in 1995 has become a favourite social gathering venue for the town's people in the evening for recreation and exercising.
Playground for kids is also available at the garden
Another prominent structure in the garden is the beautifully decorated water tower (which is now redundant). This is probably the most attractive water tower I ever come across. It is well crafted with hibiscus flowers around its tank.
Due to the cooling property of the water, it has attracted bees to built their hives around it. Quite a scary sight indeed
There are also a few structures around the lake such as the clock tower (which still function), sheds and mini arch
Sarikei Nyelong Esplanade is another esplanade the town has to offer. Facing the Nyelong river it is easily a walking distance from the centre of the small town.
Just like the Merdeka Park, Zen balls can be found scattered across the Nyelong Esplanade
There is a small playground for the kids to play
The esplanade is surprisingly clean and well maintain. Another perfect place for an evening stroll
I notice a tree with its "fruits". I have no idea what type of tree is this
Nyelong River. There used to be a ferry beside this esplanade to ferry vehicles across this river which connect this town to Bintangor. The ferry seize its operation after the completion of the Nyelong Bridge, further up from here.
Sarikei Wharf Esplanade is located between Terminal 1 & 2 jetty. It is basically in front of the town's bus station.
The esplanade was officiated in 1991
The esplanade is an ideal place for evening stroll and sunset watching. The esplanade is facing the Rejang River and the sun set in the west where the river flows towards the open sea.
There is still a lot of room for improvement for this esplanade and I hope the concerned authority see the potential in it and take the neccessary steps to glorify it.
Merdeka Park was built in 2004 in the effort to turn Sarikei town into a more artistic town
The park is easily accessible from Jalan Abdul Rahman, Jalan Repok and Jalan Masjid Lama. It is basically located behind the town bus station
It has a cental courtyard. There used to be a fountain with dancing water at the central courtyard. The fountain would be nice feature on a hot sunny day.
Zen balls and squares occupy a portion of the park
The best way to enjoy park is to sit at the shed which is located at a corner of the park.
Food court adjacent to the park
This park is worth a visit when stopping over at the town. With some brush up and maintenance, I believe this park will be another well known landmark for the town.
