Jolly Kitchen @ Hock Lee Centre

Jolly Kitchen is the only affordable place to dine in Hock Lee Centre and I decided to stop here as I was tired and running out of options.

The service here is quite good. The staffs here are very attentive, probably because they are trying to stay alive in this business as there are hardly any people around.

The dining place is pretty cozy and clean.

There are some cute dolls behind a counter which caught my attention.

Black and White (RM 2.50) is basically a mixture of soya milk and grass jelly.

The eating utensils are soaked in warm water for hygienic purpose.

Jolly Beef Burger (RM 5.50) served with fries and coleslaw. The fries were soggy and I find the coleslaw dressing to be a bit sour. The burger itself is just average.

In a nutshell, the food and beverage here do not impress me.

Hock Lee Shopping Centre

Hock Lee Centre is the nearest shopping place while I stayed in 360 Hotel last time around. This is my only second visit to this shopping centre.

Hock Lee shopping centre is consider a small shopping complex by my standard. The building consists of 4 levels (including the basement) of shops. It has a moderate size concourse at the basement and average shopping environment.

There are a handful selection of reasonable priced clothes on the ground floor.

Game arcade also located at the ground floor

Strangely, the food court no longer exist on the third floor as oppose to the wordings on the ceiling of the very same floor. The only affordable place to dine here is Jolly Kitchen, also on the third floor.

Also on the third floor is a toy store.

I believe Hock Lee Shopping Centre is starting to lose its charm due to the fact more modern shopping malls been established in Kuching city. It's pretty quiet here during the week day but I been told the crowd usually patron this place in the weekends

X'mas Parade Rehearsal by Girls' Brigade

Christmas is just around the corner and preparation by various parties for the annual Sibu X'mas procession are been finalized. The annual procession is scheduled to be on the 19th December 2009.

Almost every Saturday and Sunday of late, the Girl's Brigade band had been practicing for the event. The Xin Fu Yuan church where I played badminton had been their practicing ground.

Here are some of the videos I manage to capture during their drill. The weather has been unpredictable lately and I hope they don't have to endure rain during the actual day.

Jubilee Recreation Ground

Just beside the DBKS building is a huge garden called the Jubilee Recreation Ground. Frankly, I never knew the existence of this garden before.

The man made lake occupied much area of the Jubilee Recreation Ground. There is a small stage at the edge of the lake.

Wooden bridge that cut across the lake. Nice view can be attained by standing at the centre of the bridge.

Reflexology path within the garden area.

The children playground with synthetic rubber padding. The synthetic rubber is attractively coloured.

The presence of trees in way of the walkway made this garden ideal for evening walk and jog.

I made another discovery while exploring the garden where I saw one section is a little bit out of the ordinary.

This section is probably just been created. It is beautiful and serene. It definitely gives a feeling of being in a beach resort.

This area looks like a Japanese Garden

Some shelters here with the barok style roof.

Waterfall with artificial pitcher plant

I was impressed with the garden and can't help to wonder what made the authority created it in the first place until I came about this signboard within the garden. I reckon they created this section in conjunction with the Garden Show this year.

DBKS Building

Probably one of the eye catching building in Kuching city is its administration building itself, the DBKS (South Kuching City Council) Building.

There is a beautiful boulevard in front of this building where some folks can be seen jogging here in the evening.

The flowers at the boulevard are beautiful and well maintained.

A closer look at the building's structure and architecture. I kind of impressed with the unique roof and spire design. I would be proud if I were to work in this impressive building.
