The Syuen Hotel

The Syuen Hotel is one of the largest hotel in Ipoh. This hotel used to be the No.1 hotel in Ipoh until recently been overtook by the adjacent Regency Tower Hotel and Apartment.

The hotel is rated as 4 star hotel. The location is really ideal. Ipoh Parade is just across the road and nice hawker food are just nearby.

An antic car parked outside the hotel. Wonder who still drive this vehicle around nowadays.

Syuen Hotel came into the hospitality scene to emulates the city's rich heritage value as emanated from its building design, a Neo-Classical architecture that bring back the old colonial feels for the hotel guests. The lobby is really huge but poorly lit in my opinion.

Front office counter. A good place to source for travel information around Ipoh.

The Lobby Lounge

Interestingly, the lobby also housed a few shops which sell furniture, watches, clothes and etc. It's just like a mini shopping complex here.

Garden View is the main restaurant where the hotel guest go for breakfast

However, do not let the appearance of the hotel fool you. I have heard a lot of complaints about the rooms here. Soiled carpets and filthy bathroom are some of the common feedbacks by the previous hotel guest here. The lowest room category, the superior room do not even come with any windows.

This hotel was established in the early 1990s and probably it is high time for a renovation and total overhaul on its rooms
