Just beside the Sarawak Museum (the old building) is a garden to commemorate Sarawak heroes cum warriors
The garden is known as Museum Garden was originally the old burial ground of the Chinese community in Kuching. In fact, there are still a few Chinese burial graves next to this garden.
This stairs and passageway will take one straight up to the Heroes's Monument
Finally, the monument. The monument's design is rather simple but well decorated. The Sarawak native's carving motif is clearly visible here.
At closer inspection, there are heroes and warriors of different ethnic race been immortalized in the form of plaque at the base of this monument
Traditional weapons such as the shields, spear, keris and etc can be found above the heroes plaque
View from the monument. This is the stairways that lead to the monument.
There is another higher ground behind the monument which also offer a good view of the city. From this position, it gives a better overall picture of the monument and its surrounding garden.
Just beside this garden is a small marine exhibit called the Aquarium Bandaraya

Nice monument! You seem to know Sarawak like the back of your hands. Next time I go Sarawak, can you be my tour guide? : )
Must ask ur tips dy when I visited Sarawak one day. Poor me, I never been to Sarawak yet.
I did visit that when I am still in secondary school. Nice place and good memories...
Is it a must visit place in Sarawak?
Beautiful photos of attractive places! You take your photos like a professional. Are you?
the heroes definitely deserve a place like this.
Well, I was wondering if you are one of those adventurous folks who likes to drive around during your free time!! It's really great doing so!
The park looks nice and well maintained!
I don't drive around, I either walk or cycle around. It is the best way to explore places.
Heroes's Monument is not a must visit place from my observation. But it is worth a visit.
I'm no professional photographer. Just take photos for this blog. I using normal digital camera only :)
I'm learning so much about Sarawak through your posts.
I agree with you that to explore around it's best to walk or cycle. Only then you can appreciate the surroundings. And yeah, like everyone else I love your pics.
Sarawak looks clean and serene in your pics. The air must be very fresh there, right? Have you already been to most of the places of interest in Sarawak? Nice..
I must admit, the air quality here is definitely better than those in West Malaysia and perhaps Singapore.
Sarawak is a wide state. Although I been to many places around here, there are still many to be explored
