In conjunction with the 45th year of Sarawak joining Malaysia, the state government had decided to hold an exhibition throughout Sarawak with the theme "Development Exhibition on 45 Years of Sarawak's Progress in Malaysia".
The exhibition is held in Sibu for 12 days from 8-19th February at the Sibu Civic Centre. The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm on weekdays and from 10am to 8pm on weekends. Admission is free.
There is a make shift stalls beside the civic centre selling food, drinks, clothes and etc.
The exhibition covers a floor space of about 1,000 sq m, consisting of 3 main categories that focus on Sarawak's development in the past, present and future
In the first category of the exhibition, visitors will walk through Sarawak's historical journey from pre-independence up to the mid 1980
Interesting fact I learn is the hanging of white flag during curfew time back then was to seek medical attention or any assistance
The second category of the exhibition will showcase Sarawak's present day achievement in social, economic and political sphere
Also highlighted here are the Sarawak's various National Parks including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Mulu Cave
The third category will showcase the future plans for Sarawak, especially within the State's Second Wave of Development
There is also a interactive section where visitors can test their knowldege of Sarawak
