Istana Melawati

Istana Melawati is the second national palace of Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong in Putrajaya after the Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur. It serves as a royal retreat for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The Melawati Palace is located in Precinct 1, on top of the hill which offer a spectacular view of the surrounding area.

The palace is located behind the Putrajaya Shangri-la Hotel and adjacent to Putra Perdana Park

The tall towers form a unique structure for the palace. The towers' design represent the old guard towers found in the medieval Malay palaces.

There are basically 3 access points to the palace. Security was slack on my visit which suggest the King was not around. By the way, the palace is not open to the public.

For the record, I have yet to visit the national palace in Kuala Lumpur and I should make an effort there one day.
