Sticky Hand Made Rock Candy

Recently I came across an interesting outlet while shopping in One Utama Shopping Complex in Bandar Utama when I saw a large crowd gather outside the stall.

On closer inspection, the outlet with the name of Sticky produce hand made rock candy.

I did some research and found out, Sticky began its operation from Sydney, Australia and then opened a branch in Singapore and Malaysia. In the latest news I gathered, there will be opening another outlet in Pavilion KL soon.

The process of making the candy is done in a transparent partition where member of the public can actually see and observed the complete process of making the candy.

The end result is pretty amazing and highly intricate designs. They can even custom made the candy design if they were request by the customers

All the rock candies which are packaged in jars and cute plastic packaging. A perfect gift for weddings, family members and loved ones.

The best place to start is to purchase a mix rock candy which has a bit of every flavours and designs. The small jar will cost RM16.90 while the bigger jar will cost RM19.90. I strongly recommend the bigger jar as they are hardly any significant difference between the jar size.

There are all sorts of flavours inside it, watermelon, kiwi, grapes, orange, lemon, strawberry, passion fruit and etc. They are pretty cute and I'm sure a lot of people would love them.

Erdinger Dunkel

Erdinger weissbier has been made widely available in bars and supermarket around KL lately and I manage to bought an Erdinger Dunkel in a local supermarket for RM 19.29. Definitely not a cheap price for a German Wheat beer.

I never understood why there is a dark wheat beer in the first place hence I did some research on my own. I gathered when colder season came along, the German wanted a beer with greater depth. Thus born the Dunkel version, a wheat beer with a portion of darker caramelized malts.

Erdinger Dunkel is made up of water, wheat malt, barley malt, roasted malt, hops and yeast. The Dunkel has a higher alcohol content then its Hefe counterpart at 5.6%

It pours to a dark brown with reddish hues and formed quite a head which dissipate quickly.

The citrus and banana flavour are hardly noticeable in Erdinger Dunkel. It has the sweet malt roasts and a hint of yeast. It is not too heavy and pleasant to drink. It is drinkable but not the best I have tested.

I am unable to comprehend German language but I believe the manufacturer claimed Erdinger Dunkel was brewed with aromatic hops but this is virtually nonexistent when I took a sip at the beer. Probably a bigger dose of aromatic hops are required to bring out the best of this beer.

Siti Khadijah Market

One of the must see place while in Kota Bharu is an octagonal building in the centre of the town which houses a very colourful and active market every day.

Siti Khadijah market is a place that sells various types of foods as well as necessity goods.

The market will start its operations from early 7am until 6pm. What make the market become unique is the view of the market if it is seen from the upper floor.

The market has a transparent roof top which allows natural light to pass through to brighten the central interior concourse of the market

Most of the traders here are monopolized by women. The market is named after Prophet Muhammad's enterpreneurial wife.

On the ground floor, fresh vegetables, fruits, meats and fishes are sold here. What an experience just to browse around the market.

On the first floor, one can source for spices, keropok, dodol and etc. Visitors will be spoil with choices and the friendly traders will approach visitors to convince them to buy their products.

This is one of their delicacies called "Sambal Daging". It is a dry food where the meat is cook with special spices. Definitely worth buying home as it can lasts up to 6 months.

I not too sure whether Dinar and Dirham currency are used here but there is a signboard inside the market which shows the exchange rate in relation to Ringgit Malaysia

Little India @ Brickfields

Brickfields used to be a shabby and dodgy area but the place is now transformed to one of the most beautiful place in Kuala Lumpur. It is basically just a stone throw from the KL Sentral Station.

Dubbed as the Little India, it has been given a new face lift with many infrastructures and improvements been set up.

Brickfields now has more pleasant appearance with Indian inspired street lamps, decorative columns, kolam on the roads and a mammoth water fountain

This beautiful arches can be seen lined up at the pavement along the street.

Even the bus stops in this area are given a more modern design and look

This water fountain is the tallest fountain in the country at 7.62m in height. There seems to be an old tree which looks like out of place just beside this water fountain. I suspect the tree is sacred and no one dare to remove the tree during the construction of this water fountain.

The water fountain is adorned with elephant sculptures at the base and duck figures at the top.

Brickfields is definitely the newest landmark for Kuala Lumpur and is definitely a good place to start exploring KL.

Juita Premier Hotel

I was recommended by my colleague to stay in Juita Premier Hotel during my recent visit to Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The hotel is located at Jalan Pintu Pong.

It looks pretty decent on the outside. The best part is its location which is near to hypermarket, tourist attractions and Chinatown.

The staffs here are friendly and helpful. This plus point seems to negate the shortcomings of this hotel in term of its aging facilities. It also has one of the smallest lift I come across. I reckon it can fit a maximum capacity of 3 people (without the luggage) comfortably inside the lift.

However, the hotel is aging and so as its furniture and room. Even though my room is spacious (RM 120 for Deluxe Room), but most of the furniture and bathroom facilities really need a face lift.

Even with such room condition, somehow I still able to sleep soundly during my one day stay here.

Breakfast is provided by the hotel at its Mahligai Restaurant starting from 7.30am. I still wondering why they serve so late as breakfast is usually served by 6.30am.

I was really disappointed as there aren't much choice to pick. Notice there hardly any variety of food available for me to savor in the buffet counter.

Wifi facility is available for hotel guest and the password will be given when the guest check in.

Juita Premier Hotel is a decent hotel by Kota Bharu standard but I will probably not going to stay here again in my next visit unless the management did some serious upgrading and refurbishment. I notice a few more new hotels at the surrounding such as Flora Place Hotel and etc which might offer more comfortable stay.
