Hock Ann Teng Temple

Hock Ann Teng Temple is a Chinese temple right in the heart of Kanowit town. It is located near the waterfront, facing the Kanowit River.

This friendly looking granite statue seems to be greeting the visitors to this temple

The columns on each side of the arch are decorated with elaborated dragon's carving.

Some of the details on the arch. I believe there are stories to be told from these sculptures.

The entrance to the main hall. Again, the dragon sculptures are present on both of the pillars

Paintings on both sides of the main hall.

The altar for the deities inside the main hall.

View from the inside of the main hall. I suspect the temple was built based on Feng Shui as it is facing the Kanowit River with a small hill behind it.

Another unique feature of this temple is the presence of tiny statues which decorated its whole roof structure. These statues appear to be calabash, monk and lion.

Wonder those craftsmen who made those tiny statues and the dragons would carry on the trade and teach the skills to their next generations.

Wow nice temple there. I remember the temple here in our place which I visited twice.

I'm just wondering if the people are also going there in that temple to visit like the temple here.

Chinese temples are so colourful and decorated, this is really interesting and I am glad I had you to show me around. I am sure feng shui would have been involved with all the building of the temple.
