My family had been patronizing Sweet Family Seafood restaurant ever since when I was at school when the restaurant was just nearby my house. Since then the restaurant had moved twice to other premises.
The restaurant now is located at Jalan Pahlawan, near the Sibu bus terminal station
There is a mini garden at the edge of the restaurant. It's quite beautiful and well maintain.
The interior is decorated with giant Chinese traditional lanterns. The restaurant is clean and had been graded "A" by the Sibu Municipal Council.
The restaurant served all kind of Chinese food but I would like to introduce one of their specialty, Tom Yam "Hung Ang" (Hung Ang means rice vermicelli in Foochow). The rice vermicelli is cooked with Tom Yam soup, mixed with vegetables, fish, tomato and egg. The tom yam soup is hot and spicy, although not as hot as the Thai version.
The restaurant is generally generous in the portion. The fish chunks are big. There used to be squid and shrimp in this dishes but probably been omitted to keep the this dish at reasonable price due to the rising cost of raw material. A bowl of this dish cost RM4.50 (Used to be RM 3.50), which is very reasonable.

I'm learning a lot reading your posts, you must be travelling everyday with a camera on....
must be superb. looks like sibu's pricing is quite similar to kl here
the prices of food is the same with ipoh standard...i guess Malaysia now has almost the same rate..everything has gone up, it wont go down even fuel has gone down.. what goes up never comes down..agree?
btw, i want to try sibu dishes when i go..if i go..haha..
wow! i only eat tom yam on instant noodels cup. never tried eating it in the restaurant.
whoa, tom yum with noodles? that is quite interesting! i should try that out soon!
very good. we have a similar pinoy specialty called sinigang. similar to thai's tom yan - sour and spicy.
I like to eat in that restaurant too! Big portion, good service and reasonable price!
woah! Don;t think I can find these type of food over here. Must try if I go to Sibu. The foochow food in JB a bit different.
man, i love the red lantern that dangled down from the ceiling..i think they just enhance the look of the foods
Falcon---it's very interesting to know that you were educated from a well known school. No wonder why....
I thought there are many Chinese and Chinese communities in your area, Is that right?
the tom yam look so good!! yummy!!
Wow this tom yam is definitely alot better than what I had at Penang!!! The tom yam in the photo that u saw at my post should be more expensive than yours with so much goodies inside! Mine not nice, it's like Myojo Tom Yam instant noodles. XP
We stayed with our relatives in Penang. It was my 3rd visit. I tried food at Gurney before and they r not good and yet expensive cos it's a tourist spot. Recently we passed by Gurney and bought some bubble tea, yucky and expensive too. =P
As usual, the best food is around the corners in those old lanes.
This is absolutely not the right time to read this post cause I'm craving for Tom Yam right now and I haven't went back to Sibu for the past 5 years. You won't know how I miss the food there.
Next trip back, u bring me for this one, ok? It will be even great if u can belanja me. muahahahahaha...
