Yesterday was the first day of Syawal in the Muslims calendar. It's Hari Raya and I was following my wife to visit some of her colleagues.
Most Muslims in Sibu live around Jalan Kampung Datuk. The place was sure happening with many cars and people along the road, creating traffic jam and bottle neck. People from all races can be found here visiting their Muslims friends houses
While I was navigating through the traffic, I saw this antique Volkswagon
Like the Chinese, some of the kids were playing the fire crackers

Some of the houses are quite hidden from the main road and one need to negotiate the wooden planks to reach the destination. Those wearing high heels might experience some problem
This is the interior of one one of the house we visited
There were many food been served to us. One of them is the famous Sarawak Kek Lapis (Layer Cake)
Rendang masak hitam were served in almost all the houses we visited. It is beef cooked in spices in the traditional malay style.
Rendang and curry are best eaten with rice, ketupat (rice dumpling wrapped in coconut leaves) or bread. All the food taste really nice and I had my stomach full after just visited 3 houses.
Everyone was having a good time.

Yes, Sarawakian subscribe Astro too over here. However, Some people opt for big satellite dishes like in my case, my parents opt for satellite dishes

Looks like a real enjoyable festivity. The place is not much different from some places here in the Philippines. Thanks for giving us some view of Sarawak.
I heard that the end of the Ramadam is celebrated with a feast where people eat a lot of food. Is that true?
Well, put it this way, a lot of food will be served but that depends on certain individuals. Some people will eat a lot, some will eat in moderation. I assume some also eat a lot when breaking the fast during the Ramadan month
Hai... i don't know if your muslims too... heheheh MInal aidin wal faidzin... happy idul fitri day... hmmm i want to eat that food...
