Something strange happened yesterday morning out of nowhere. At first I thought it was haze. Here are the chronology of the events happened:
0808: I was at the jetty, waiting to take ferry across Igan river to shipyard. It do start to look a bit foggy at the town side.
0809: It looks pretty foggy across the Igan river though, even though the town side looks OK
0838: The fog was really thick. I can't even see the structure across the river. I can't even see Sibu town. The same goes for the surrounding area. These photos taken from Sapor Shipyard No. 1
0848: The fog started to clear up slowly
0852: I can almost see the town now
0913: The visibility was getting better.
1114: Clear visibility
By the way, my colleague called me around 0850 to inform me that one of my ship collided with a barge at Rejang river, not far from here, about 1.5km from the town (and not far from the shipyard where I was currently at). The fog was the main culprit as the visibility was very low around that time as shown above.
The damage sustained by my ship is quite serious as there is a big hole at the forward hull structure in way of the forepeak tank. I have not conducted a full investigation on this incident yet as I have my hand full and will start on it today. Probably post on the update in the future post.
Blast that fog! Bad luck.
