Parliament of Malaysia

The Parliament of Malaysia is the national legislature of Malaysia which is based on the Westminster system in the United Kingdom.

The Parliament building is just a stone's throw away from the National Monument and about 20-25 minutes walk from Masjid Jamek LRT station

Completed in 1962, the building comprises a three-storey complex for the two houses of Parliament to meet. The 18 storey tower houses the offices of the Ministers and members of Parliament

A statue of the nation's first Prime Minister was erected in front of the Parliament building. Parliament was originated from a French word "Parlement" which means venue for discussion, meeting and talk.

It consists of of the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) and the Senate (Dewan Negara)

This is the operation room for one of the government ministries.

The interior of the Parliament is very grand, almost equivalent to a 6 star hotel. It's very cozy and I could laze around the whole day. There is a souvenir shop, special lounge (for elected representatives and Senators only) and cafeteria within the Parliament complex.

This is the spot where the press conference will be held and broadcast to the national television.
