Nasi Kandar Line Clear

Nobody can deny the fact that Nasi Kandar is synonymous with Penang. Just walk out on the streets and there are at least hundreds of such joints to try on. I had been asking around for the famous Nasi Kandar stall and most locals will mentioned Line Clear Nasi Kandar stall at Penang Road

History has it that the origin of these home-cooked meals were popularized by Indian Muslim immigrants from India in the 1930s whose culinary skills caught the attention of the locals and other immigrants.

Ordering this dish is simple. Just choose the curry dish that you want and the vendor will lay them on top of the serving of plain rice.

Then a mixture of small scoops of various gravies is added to the rice, giving the dish a tantalizing burst of flavours. This plate cost me RM 8.30, which includes salted egg, a drumstick and cabbage.

Many operators claimed that the secret for Penang Nasi Kandar delights to be different from others is the sweetness of Penang water.

The Line Clear stall is quite hidden from the main road as it is located at an alleyway but its huge signboard outside should be noticeable. I heard the stall has been operated for a long time and is one of the oldest in Penang.

Having said that, not everyone would agree that Line Clear offers the best Nasi Kandar in Penang. Try to ask around (especially the taxi drivers) and you will be surprised with other recommendations they have.
