Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier

I finally manage to get my hand over Weihenstephan wheat beer after reading some very good review about this brand. It is pronounced "Y-en-steffan". Some might have problem to pronounce it properly but it looks like a good beer to drink.

The Hefe Weissbier cost RM19.50 in the market and the price is on par with other German wheat beers in the market. I have a lot of expectation for Weihenstaphen as it originated from the world's oldest brewery

The Hefe Weissbier has an alcohol content of 5.4% and the Beer Purity Law of 1516 is still strictly observed during the brewing process.

The Weihenstephan Brewery can trace its roots at the abbey at the year 768. A brewery was actually licensed by the City of Freising in 1040 and that is the founding date claimed by today's modern brewery. The brewery thus has a credible claim to being the oldest working brewery in the world.

It pours a beautiful unfiltered gold colour with moderate carbonation and a nice white head which don't last very long. A cloudy wheat beer with a smooth malt background, wonderfully rich yeast flavours, spicy with fruity banana overtones.

The initial mouth feel is actually quite sour but finishes sweet with a strong taste of banana and citrus. This is by far the best Hefe Weissbier I ever come across.

Weihenstephan Hefe is a refreshing beer which is wonderfully rich yeasty taste. It goes well with light meals which are not too strongly flavoured.

My Very First Weizen Glass

To enjoy the full potential of bottled German Wheat Beer, it is essential to have the right glass. Hence, I finally invested in a Weizen glass.

I had been searching high and low to purchase a Weizen glass but to no avail. Somehow, I manage to come across a Franziskaner gift pack which comes with an original glass.

The gift pack comes with 5 bottle of Franziskaner beer and a Weizen glass. The whole set cost me a total of RM83.99 from Cold Storage.

It is a beautiful Weizen glass but unfortunately it comes with a 300ml glass. Ideally, it should be 500ml.

To unlock the wheat beer full potential and flavour, the right pouring technique must be executed as well. This is the end result of my first pour of the wheat beer into a Weizen glass. It forms quite a long lasting head. The beer tastes so much better the first time I tried Franziskaner bottle where I did not use the appropriate glass and pouring technique.

X'mas Decoration At Fahrenheit 88

Fahrenheit 88 is the most recently opened shopping mall in KL's Bintang Walk and I was a bit curious about their X'mas debut this year.

I reckon this mall is about 60% operational as I notice some corners are still quite deserted.

The X'mas decoration here is rather simple but still eye catching. Its Christmas tree was constructed out of CDs to create a blink blink effect.

Overall, the mall did quite alright for its debut year. It will still be overshadowed by its nearby malls especially Pavilion, which is practically just next door.

X'mas Decoration At KLCC

X'mas decoration in KLCC somewhat not as grand as I anticipated. I was hoping to see something fancy from this high class shopping mall

There ain't much to see except some Christmas trees at the main concourse area. However, one thing I like is the soothing colours of the trees and decoration.

The white and purple decorations are everywhere and definitely setting the mood for the festive season.

X'mas Decoration At Pavilion

Pavilion Mall in KL probably has the most elaborated Christmas decoration of all the shopping malls I visited this year.

Christmas trees can be seen standing at the main entrance to greet visitors. One will get a feel of a white Christmas while walking past this section.

Inside the mall, in way of the main concourse, I'm almost speechless while admiring its grand set up inside.

Everything seems to blend well with the X'mas theme. I definitely want to be back here again on the actual Christmas day.

Christmas songs were sang on the centre stage by a group of choirs and this definitely drive the visitors into the festive mood.

Booths were also set around the concourse, selling X'mas gifts, goodies and present for the loved ones.

X'mas Decoration At Berjaya Times Square

Christmas atmosphere is in the air once more especially by the end of the year in most of the shopping complexes and malls around Kuala Lumpur.

Yesterday, I manage to stop by at Berjaya Times Square and took this opportunity to see its X'mas decoration.

It has an interesting concept of a X'mas Village at its main concourse. The floor around this area was covered with white canvas which gives the impression of been in the arctic circle. Various booths were set up for visitors to shop for X'mas goodies and present.

Inside the "X'mas Village", the children have the opportunity to take photos with Santa accompanied by their family members.

At a corner is something that looks like a children playground inside this huge yellow structure.

Sultan Ismail Petra Airport

Sultan Ismail Petra Airport is the airport that serves Kota Bharu and probably the only airport in the state of Kelantan.

The airport building is synonymous with the Islamic image of the state and adopt Moorish architecture

The airport is a former RAF base, the scene of the first Japanese landing in Malaya in 8 December 1941. After the war, the military airfield was turned into civilian airport.

The new terminal started operating from 2002 gives a more modern feeling while traveling to Kota Bharu. The airports are served by Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia and Fireflyz with most of the flights from Kuala Lumpur.

KFC is the biggest restaurant in the airport building and the restaurant offers clear view of the airstrip and air crafts.

The departure lounge is spacious and comfortable. However, there ain't much activities to engage here while waiting for departure.
