Donation Bins @ Putrajaya

I notice a white collection bins located at selected bus stops along Precinct 7, 9 and 11 since the beginning of the year.

It is actually a collection bins to accept clothes, shoes, hand bags, belts, linen and soft toy where the sales of those items will be distributed evenly to 3 charity associations; Malaysia Association for the Blind, National Cancer Council and Spastic Children's Association of Selangor and Federal Territory.

It is a well designed and solid donation bins, secured with 2 padlocks to ensure no one would take opportunity of the donation for themselves.

The only thing I don't like is the location of some donation bins which are rather isolated from the highly populated residential area and I wonder if people would actually walk the distance to drop their donation to the bins.

Very true,
we living in a high density condominium area always seen boxes fill with blanket, shoes, bags, toys, and lot lot lot of sport equipment. Written: please take me. Especially when people back to their home country and couldn't take all their belonging.
Feel bad about it, apparently they prefer to install the boxes on the "ROAD" instead of nearby residential complex.

hi,

there are difficulties for the NGOs to install/put any bins near to residential area/condominum/high density area due to complains from the public, worrying the bins will be abused as dump sites by the irresponsible ones.

I assume that of course they sure know the bins will be appropriate to be placed near to the community but pls don forget there are many many more citizens still stick to the thinking of "Not-In-My-Backyard". There are many many residents are still skeptical towards recycling bins.

I am happy that there are concerned people like you, Maybe we can play our part by spreading the words to our friends and relatives of the existance of the bin program which benefit the environment and less fortunate community as well.
