Thong Lok Restaurant

Tanjung Tualang is a small town not very far away from Batu Gajah. This town was once a major tin mining area in the mid 1900. The mining activities kind of dwindled in the early 1980s. This circumstances lead to the abandoned mines here converted to freshwater pond to breed freshwater prawn and fish.

Nowadays, the town is famous for its prawn and fish. Basically it is the core business around here and one will notice a lot of restaurants in this tiny little town. We manage to visit this town and have our lunch in one of the restaurant called Thong Lok.

Most of the fishes and prawns are kept alive in the aquarium as an assurance to the visiting customers that all the food here are served fresh.

While in any restaurants in Tanjung Tualang, prawn dish is a must. Here, we ordered steamed and fried prawn which were equally tasty and the prawn were very fresh. These prawns were considered medium sized and the meat is really up to the mark.
