Spak Clearwater River Adventure

While driving along the Pan Borneo Highway, I came across the road signs which indicate the location of the Spak Clearwater River Adventure. Out of curiosity, we decided to check it out. It is located not far away from the Betong Rest Stop.

I was rather disappointed at the first sight of the place as I would though it will look something similar of a recreational area. Since we were already here, we alighted the car and explore the surrounding.

The road leading to the river bank is quite steep. It amazes me how some car owners are daring enough to park their vehicle along this road.

A lot of rambutans are available along the way. Feel tempted to try some of those. I bet they taste good.

At the river bank, nothing much to see here except a few boats berthing here and locals commuting along the river. Still I can't see any attraction here at all. The water is not even clear as the name suggest so.

Further down from the Spak Clearwater is another historical place of Bukit Sadok and Rentap's fortress. It is quite a hilly terrain and it is here at Bukit Sadok that Rentap, a famous Iban warrior made his last stand against the Brooke's administration and met his fate during the final battle.

The road leading to Bukit Sadok is in a very poor condition and we have no choice but to abandon our journey half way. One will need a 4WD vehicle to negotiate this road or a 24km hike.

This is a very common phenomena that always happen in the river in Sarawak.
Its muddy because of
1. Rain few days ago, which causes the rain to wash the mud downstream.
2. Logging activities happen on upstream.

Else its very clean, I've visited the places before.
