Hajjah Halimah Well

Another historical site in Saratok town is a mysterious well called the Hajjah Halimah Well

The well is located at Abang Hj. Puteh Elias Road. Fort Ranee is the nearest landmark, which is just next to it.

We get to know about the existence of the well from this old man who explained the well is older than himself. Hence, I surmise that the well must be more than 80 years old.

I wish I could find out more about its origin and if there was any legend associated to this well. From the appearance, the local authority had took the effort to preserve it and beautify its surrounding.

The well appears to have dry up with a little remnant of stagnant water. The rubbish inside it is just an eye sore.

I think I read somewhere the Saratok District Council spent RM 80,000 in 2006 for this well and its garden.

It will be nice if they add an information board nearby to tell the story of the well.
