Inverness

Inverness is the capital and only large town of the Scottish Highlands lies 160 miles north of Edinburgh. The town is dubbed as the gateway to the Highlands as well as the mysterious Loch Ness

The one asset Inverness itself has is its setting astride the River Ness at the head of the Beauly Firth

Inverness Castle sits on a cliff overlooking the River Ness. The castle was built between 1833-1836 to replace a medieval castle blown up by the Jacobites. Today it functions as a sheriff court. The Drum Tower will only be open to the public in the summer season portraying the castle story.

The journey to Loch Ness commence from here .......
