Orchid

My parents had 2 orchid plants at our home and recently they start to bloom and I decided to have a closer look at them

I am not an expert in orchids but from their physical appearance and colour, both of these orchids should be of different species.

I have to say my parents really did a good job as the flowers are indeed healthy and beautiful

Lovely orchids. I love flowers and plants but I don't have a green thumb.

By the way, please change my site from The Asian Traveler to An Asian Traveler. I lost my custom domain. I have now my new web address http://www.anasiantraveler.com . My blog is still in transition. Thank you.

Actually, they are of the same species of orchids called "phalaenopsis". I used to be an orchid enthusiast years ago!

Glad your parents love orchids too!

Pure white orchid is almost certainly the classic species Phalaenopsis amabilis http://www.phals.net/amabilis/index_e.html ... which is rather hard to find nowadays ... very different from flat, no gaps, completely round white phalaenopsis hybrids that saturate the market. White with red lip is some Phalaenopsis hybrid.
