Diang Miang Ngu

Diang Miang Ngu is a cuisine that can only be found in Sibu town. It is a savoury soup, usually consumed during breakfast or late supper. It is made up of a mixture of flour, mushrooms, fish balls, squid and topped up with lemongrass. Best consume with addition of white pepper.

The famous Diang Miang Ngu stall in Sibu is at the alleyway at Blacksmith Road but there is another stall, Grace Cafe beside the Sibu Civic Centre which also serve a decent Diang Miang Ngu. It is said that the Diang Miang Ngu stall owner here at Grace Cafe is the brother of the other famous stall at the Blacksmith Road.

A big bowl of Diang Miang Ngu here cost RM2 while the smaller bowl cost RM1.70. It taste almost exactly like the stall at Blacksmith Road. The only difference is the thicker flour chunk.

I remember my mother used to bring me to eat this dish when I was a kid and I remember vividly the very same dish back then is much nicer with richer ingredients compare to one I had now (even though it is from the same stall and owner).

Nice shoot and it make me hungry now ;) RM 2 for a big bowl is very reasonable and I've not come across this bargain in west M'sia!

maybe this would be the equivalent of our GOTo or lugaw here in the Philippines---except that this one looks more appetizing......
