My MASK Collection

I had some MASK toys since I was 9 years old and had been well kept since then. Let's have an overview of some of the "good guys" available in my collection of this popular 1980s cartoon series.

Matt Trakker is the heroic leader of MASK team. His main vehicle is a 1985 Camaro sports car which changes to fighter jet and back. He is armed with Spectrum mask which create high frequency radio interference. In the series, Spectrum also had several secondary abilities such as seeing through solid object, allow Matt to hanglide, shoot laser as well as recording and transmit different wave length and frequency

Rhino is another familiar vehicle in the series. This tractor rig converts to mobile defense unit with a detachable all terrain vehicle. In the series, this vehicle usually been operated by Bruce Sato (with Lifter mask which fire anti gravity beam) and Alex Sector (with Jackrabbit mask which allow Alex levitate and fly). Rhino will be occasionally commanded by Matt Trakker (with Ultra Flash mask which emit blinding flash of light)

Gator is the only amphibious vehicle at the beginning of the series. The off road vehicle changes to hydroplane and back. Piloted by Dusty Hayes with Backlash mask which shoot sonic waves

Firecracker also made a few appearance at the beginning of the series before been destroyed. Firecracker is a pickup truck which convert to recon truck and back. Firecracker also comes with a detachable dirt bike. Usually piloted by Hondo MacLean (with Blaster mask which project proton laser beams) and Buddy Hawks (with Penetrator mask which allow him to pass through solid objects)

Condor also feature at the beginning of the cartoon series. Condor is basically a motorcycle which converts to helicopter and back. Manned by Brad Turner with Hocus Pocus mask which project false images

Hurricane appears in an episode after Firecracker was destroyed. In the beginning, the vehicle was known as Nightstalker. The 57 Chevy converts to Field Command Post with some heavy weapon system embedded in it. Operated by Hondo MacLean with his Blaster II mask which shoot supersonic laser ray

Firefly made a few appearance in the series. Firefly is a dune buggy that changes to rocket glider and back. Piloted by Dr. Julio Lopez with Streamer mask which release super tack glue.

Raven also made a few appearance towards the end of the series. Raven is an awesome amphibious vehicle with various weapons at its disposal. The Corvette changes to armed seaplane and back. Calhoun Burns with Gulliver mask (which able to shrink and enlarge people or objects) is behind the wheel.

Slingshot is a RV (Recreational Vehicle) which quickly changes to surveillance unit and sonic jet. The surveillance unit is armed with dual mounted cannons to counter ground unit and rotatable anti aircraft turret. The unit is piloted by Ace Riker with Ricochet mask which shoot an electronic boomerang.

The rare Volcano is one awesome assault unit. Volcano is tough and packed with great fire power. The all terrain van changes to hi rise tracker. Manned by Jacques La Fleur with Maraj mask which allow the Jacques to camouflage himself and his vehicle. Matt Trakker will occasionally act as the co-pilot for this unit with his Lava-Shot mask which project streams of lave. He never use the Lava-Shot mask in the entire series.

Meteor appear in the racing series. It is a stunt jet which changes to flying pod and mobile tank. Piloted by former NASA test pilot, Ace Riker with Cruise Control mask which able to accelerate or decelerate vehicles

Goliath is also a unit appear in the racing series. It made up of 2 units, Goliath 1, the transport truck and Goliath 2, the formula race car. Goliath 1 will changes to missile launcher while Goliath 2 converts to jet fighter. Goliath 1 will be manned by Nevada Rushmore with totem mask which hurl totem poles at approaching vehicles while Goliath 2 is piloted by MASK leader, Matt Trakker with Shroud mask which create a temporary fog to confuse enemy.

I had given a more detailed description of Thunder Hawk in my blog last year, here. More is in the pipeline for each individual unit.
