Kuching Cat Statues

Kuching is the capital of Sarawak state. Kuching literally means cat in malay language and hence the nick name Cat City.

There are a few famous cat statues around the city, especially along the Pandungan Road. This arch is another landmark at Pandungan Road

Behind this arch is a clock tower which is still functioning. I was quite surprise in the first place as not many old and historic clock tower still ticking at this present day.

The Cat Statue sitting elegantly in front of the arch. Its left hand was raised, as if the cat is welcoming visitors to the city.

Walking down Padungan Road, nearby the junction to Song Thian Cheok Road is pillar tower with 4 cat statues underneath it.

The most recognizable cat statue should be the one near the Kuching Waterfront, opposite the Grand Margerita Hotel.

Some of the cat statues play gleefully around here

Hi...the only thing that brought back memories was the Riverview Hotel near the Waterfront. I know Hilton is nearby too. I spent only once a week in the city. At other times, it's in the darkness of jungle (literally speaking).
