Brooke Dockyard

Brooke Dockyard is located at Lebuh Market, not far away from the Gambier Street Old Market. This is probably the first modern ship yard in Sarawak and interestingly, it is located within Kuching city.

Ironically, Brooke Dockyard was formed in same year as the Titanic sunk, The dockyard was established to offer repair facility for White Rajah's boats back then.

The dockyard was opened by Her Highness The Ranee Muda and was mentioned in the autobiography of "Sylvia of Sarawak"

Nowadays, the dockyard is still operational and mostly doing repair job for government vessels like this navy ship shown here. Brooke Dockyard had expand their business and another of their main dockyard, which is bigger and equipped with better facilities is located at Sejingkat.
