Sri Aman

After checking out at the Hilton Batang Ai Resort, we decided to make a short stop at Sri Aman. I never been there and this will be my first visit to this small town.

Sri Aman is about 60km from Lubok Antu which translate to about 1 hour drive. There are huge paddy fields along the road towards the town.

As it was just for a short stop, we don't get to explore the town properly. It is basically a small town and best explored on foot. Sri Aman is famous for its tidal bore

Everrise Deparmental Store and Hoover Hotel. Hoover Hotel is probably the biggest hotel for this town

Pasar Tamu is located within the town centre. This should be a nice place to shop for fresh vegetables and fruits

One Stop Discount store seems to be a famous store here. I counted at least 2 of this stores here.

The old shop houses of Sri Aman town

This dove is the famous symbol/landmark for this town. It is placed in the middle of a roundabout, somewhere at the edge of the town

Just next to this roundabout is another roundabout. Parrot figures can be seen occupying the centre of the roundabout. I come to a conclusion that this town should be very closely related to birds

I never knew why the dove was picked as a mascot/symbol for this town. I don't see any dove on my visit to this town. "Aman" means peace in malay language and this is probably why dove is chosen, as a symbol of peace

Anyway, it's a good place to take a shot with the dove. The magnificent Fort Alice and the tidal bore should not be missed if one plan to stay longer here
