Tanjong Lobang

About 3km away from Miri, at Tanjong Lobang is the oldest recreation park for the city. Tanjong Lobang (Hole in cliff) got its name from the cliff at the seaside (right hand side of the above photo).

I been told the cliff is the first landing point at Miri for the Japanese during occupational period

The beach is nothing special but it is a popular spot for the Miri folks to unwind especially during the weekend. For someone like me who don't have the privilege to enjoy the sea breeze and the sandy beach at my own hometown, I have to say, I was really happy to be here.

Marine shell lives can be found around the sandy beach

Visitors come to this beach engage all kinds of activities such as playing with the water, kite flying, paraglide and etc.

Trees at the beach side. There are stalls selling food here and it is sure a nice place to dine by the sea side.

There are 2 piers here and one can walk on it and get closer to the South China Sea. The piers might get submerged at high tide

Merchant ships can be seen anchoring from the pier

Miri Marriott Resort & Spa is located Tanjong Lobang and can be seen from one of the pier

Miri Marina Bay also look closer from here

Mega Hotel and Imperial Hotel from a distance away

  10. Miri is still rich in oil and gas but mostly offshore now. No more inland drilling.

Those paragliding equipment are probably private property and the public might not get to play around with it
