Christmas Trees Contest @ Sibu Town Square

As with last year, the Christmas Trees decoration contest continues this year with 12 participants from corporate companies around Sibu.

Hence as usual, I cycled my way to the town square to snap the photos of all the trees. I had made a pledge to ensure that all the photos I shoot from Sibu (as with my previous post about Sibu) will be done in a way to reduce my carbon footprint

Sibu Town Square is again the venue for the contest and all the trees were constructed in a straight line formation.

This X'mas tree was designed by Teng Hong Aluminum and Glass Sdn Bhd. It was mainly constructed out of glass as I can see my own reflection. I would say it is a creative design and at the same time able to advertise their own product and brand, which is glass. A contender to win this contest.

This tree is from Delta Land Sdn Bhd, which is also another big corporation in Sibu

Daesim group's X'mas tree with "sparkles" as their theme. The "sparkles" ran from the tree to the floor.

Melanau Catholic Welfare Organisation also took part in this contest. Interesting part is they incorporate the Melanau's handy craft into it.

Sing Kwong is a famous supermarket here and it is no surprise to see them participate in this contest. I notice a remarks at the base of their tree, "Visit Sibu 2009" which the local council here is trying to promote.

As a comminity of Sibu town, I had done my part in promoting places of interest and events in Sibu in my previous posts (Click "Sibu"and "Events" in categories) and will continue to do so in order to make "Visit Sibu 2009" a success.

This is the the tallest and biggest tree at the town square by Sibu Municipal Council but I believe it will not be contesting as they also happen to be the organiser of the event.

This is an intersting tree by MF, using used mineral water bottles to construct a X'mas tree and trying to educate the public to recycle (By the way, most Sibu people hardly recycle). The add some coloured water into it to make it looks more like a tree. Another creative idea and I hope they win the contest.

Farley is also another popular supermarket here and they came out with a beautiful tree here.

Sing Ang Tong Methodist Church with their tree. Simple yet elegant.

Pejabat Pelajaran Gabungan Sibu (PPGS) came out with quite an impressive tree. Another contender to win this contest by my judgement

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I think this tree is lame. To my surprise, it is the product of Methodist Masland Church, probably the richest church in Sibu.

X'mas tree from E.M. Micro Electronics Sdn Bhd

2008EE with a neat landscape surrounding the base of the tree

So, having viewed the 12 X'mas trees, which one is your pick to win the contest? The trees will be at the town square until 2nd January 2009

I really can't pick any one particular from those. They're all so very different from any ones I've seen before and very, very creative done.

I also found most of them really beautiful each one of them in it's own way. The glass touch was a new one for me, very interesting!
