Chew Jetty

I had to make my way to Weld Quay while in Penang to get to the anchorage area to board my ship. Weld Quay is situated near the Penang Ferry jetty.

There are a lot of jetties along Weld Quay such as Yeoh Jetty, Chew Jetty and many more named after a Chinese surname. Hawker stalls can be easily spotted along Weld Quay.

For my work purpose, I need to head to Chew Jetty. Chew jetty can be easily identified with the sight of this temple

The temple at Chew jetty

Chew Jetty, as well as other jetties along Weld Quay are settlement for some of the Chinese community here who still decide to keep staying here as with their fore father.

I believe this place has its historical values and should be preserved. So far, the place is maintained satisfactorily.

I believe most of the resident at the jetties still make their living by the sea. They could be either fisherman or transporting people from the jetty to their ship at the anchorage. I notice there was a Japanese tour group at the jetty also when I arrived here.

While at the jetty, one will able to the surrounding jetties and the ferry terminal/jetty

So, I board a "speedboat" to get to my ship which was at anchorage.

Some foreign vessels at the anchorage. These could be fishing vessels from Thailand, Myanmar or Vietnam

Other merchant vessels also can be found at the anchorage area

Oh, now that's a trip I wouldn't mind to take. I love to be on the sea even though I can get some sea sickness....

Spotted any Chai Jetty or Tsai Jetty there by any chance? Haha. Those part of Penang looks traditional with not much modern architecture in sight. Anyone else besides Borneo and me having major issues with TM as the isp with slow internet speeds?

I worked as Ship Superintendent. Ship visit is part of the routine job.

I think there is a Chai Jetty but not Tsai Jetty. Too many surname there for me to remember

I have never been to that part of Penang before. It looks like a very charming place, left behind by the development taking place in other parts of the island.
