DDR2-533 RAM

Recently, my home PC was not operational as a result of a defective RAM. It took me 7 days to get the replacement RAM as the specification is 1GB DDR2-533, which is very rare nowadays.

Most computer shops around here sell minimum DDR2-677 and I asked my friend to do me a favor to source the DDR2-533 from Kuala Lumpur. Even in KL, it is hard to source nowadays. Luckily he managed to get one for me. For the record, the new RAM I using now is Kingston, part no. KVR533D2N4/1G (RM100)

The reason why I need DDR2-533 RAM is because my motherboard, Asus P5VD2-X (bought last year) can only support such RAM specification. Lesson learn here, when shop for motherboard, ensure the motherboard can support wide range of RAM so can be easily replaced in the future. It might even be a good idea to keep a spare RAM, just in case the RAM became obsolete and replacement is hard to come by

It is also wise to check the motherboard manual and check the RAM qualified vendors list for optimum compatibility. My previous defective RAM somehow is not in the vendors list. The new replacement however is.

So, if anyone stumble upon the RAM specification as mentioned above, I would like to source one for spare. If my new current RAM is defective again in the future, I might have to change my motherboard as well. Oh Boy......
